The night before Papa's Birthday Buffet Dinner
Assalamualaikum and a very good evening to my readers,
Happy New Years 2022!
Yesterday... I opened up the bag of blue and silver balloons and told Di and Ya to prepare the balloons. They wanted to blow with their mouths while I went to look for a pump. They said that blowing with their mouths was easier ( I knew this was a trick, they just didn't want to pump alone)
They even made a contest who could blow up the most balloons leaving me pumping the other balloons away on my own. After their little balloon blowing contest ended with a sore inner cheek, they gave in a helped me. Ya pumped away and Di tied the knot. They did complain being sore and exhausted later, they even said the rubber smelled terrible. haha, seriously, I was expecting this from them. It isn't easy getting help from children.
After blowing up all the beautiful balloons, Di and Ya started playing again. It surprises me, being now 13 and 11, they are still playful little mama's children. I let them play while arranging the balloons on the wall using a balloon tape. It is a hard plastic tape with holes in them, so we can insert the nib (is this what it is called?) of the balloons in them.
My first attempt, Di and Ya laughed out loud, saying that the balloons looked like a worm. Then, I decided to arrange them in threes and stuck them to the wall using masking tape ( bad idea) today morning, all of the balloons are on the floor hahaha.
I am so grateful, Di and Ya did helped a lot in cleaning the house. Ya is more nimble and light on her feet, she does her work fast, meanwhile Di loves to take breaks. I did throw a hanger out of rage ( sorry Di) and it did touch her. She was upset with me for a few minutes while cleaning, out of guilt I went and hugged her and comforted her to hug me back. After a few kisses, she was back to normal.
It is hard, educating children you know? When you tell them to do house chores, they turn a blind eye, it is hard but being good children they are, they finally finished their chores and I rewarded them ice-cream in the end. They were so happy to get a taste of cold lime ice-cream after a days hard work.
I am grateful, that I have the chance to sit on my seat, gazing at the mulberry trees and my bamboo fence. alhamdulillah, it is a blessing. Thank you Allah, for giving us this opportunity to live in 2022 with the pandemic Covid-19 outbreak. Later, I will blog about the feast. I am supposed to cook a lot and being in recovery, its a miracle if I succeed in pulling this off.
